Press Release: Political Analyst and Commentator Chris Stirewalt Joins the American Enterprise Institute

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Washington, DC (April 5, 2021) — American Enterprise Institute (AEI) President Robert Doar and Yuval Levin, director of Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies at AEI, have announced that well-known political analyst and commentator Chris Stirewalt has joined AEI as a resident fellow. “We are delighted that Chris Stirewalt is now part of AEI’s community,” said Doar. “His political acumen and insights are invaluable, and we look forward to reading his in-depth analyses.”

Before joining AEI, Stirewalt was the political editor of Fox News Channel, where he helped coordinate political coverage across the network and specialized in on-air analysis of polls and voting trends. In early 2021, he wrote a description of his personal experience of the 2020 election in an essay published in the popular press and widely circulated.

Before joining Fox News, Stirewalt was political editor of the Washington Examiner, where he wrote a twice-weekly column and led political coverage. He was also political editor of the Charleston Daily Mail and West Virginia Media, and he began his career at the Wheeling Intelligencer in West Virginia.

Chris Stirewalt is the author of “Every Man a King: A Short, Colorful History of American Populists” (Twelve Books, 2018), in which he looks at American populism through the history of seven famous populists.

At AEI, Stirewalt will focus on American politics, voting trends, public opinion, and the media. He will continue to be a contributing editor and weekly columnist for The Dispatch.
