PRESS RELEASE: Statement from AEI President Arthur Brooks on the Announcement of the Intention to Name John R. Bolton as National Security Adviser
March 22, 2018
Washington, DC (March 22, 2018) — President Donald Trump today announced his intent to name American Enterprise Institute (AEI) senior fellow John R. Bolton his national security adviser. Bolton has worked with AEI since the early 1970s and is currently a senior fellow in foreign and defense policy studies.
A diplomat and a lawyer, Bolton has spent many years in public service. From August 2005 to December 2006, he served as the US permanent representative to the United Nations. From 2001 to 2005, he was under secretary of state for arms control and international security. Bolton will serve as President Donald J. Trump’s third national security adviser at a time of substantial foreign policy challenges.
“We are proud that Ambassador Bolton has been chosen to serve his country as National Security Adviser,” said AEI President Arthur Brooks. “He has been part of the AEI family throughout his career, and we look forward to supporting him in his new role at this critical time. We also commend General McMaster, a scholar and warrior who has worked closely with AEI scholars for many years, for his exemplary leadership and dedicated service.”
